Tee-To-Green Golf Center: Lessons & Swing Analysis

Lessons & Swing Analysis

2010 Instruction

How to take lessons and improve your practice

  • Practice with a clear purpose in mind.
  • During practice you are training your body to do something different. Practice = training session.
  • Have goals in mind for your game and discuss them with your instructor.
  • Voice all the preconceived notions you have about the golf swing. You may have misinterpreted some information from a book, magazine, video or fellow golfer.
  • Ask questions if you're not absolutely clear about what the instructor means.
  • After each lesson, write down anything you feel will help you and refer to it when practicing.
  • Practice the drills recommended by your instructor.
  • Take short game lessons and practice it as much as your full swing.
  • Take a playing lesson.

Playing golf without lessons is like taking a trip without a map. You might eventually reach your destination, but not before you've made some wrong turns along the way.
Gary Sohosky
PGA Golf Professional
My career in golf began at age 13. I excelled at other sports and had a natural aptitude for golf as well. I broke par at age 14, had the longest hole in one in the United States in 1976 and turned professional in 1977. Early on I discovered I had the ability to not only play well but also to communicate those skills to others. Since then I have devoted a substantial amount of my adult life learning about the science of golf swing mechanics, playing the game, it's rules and history. This has allowed me to develop a teaching method based on proper biomechanics, which I feel can be learned easily by most students because it is the way our bodies are naturally intended to perform the golf swing motion. I promise to do everything within my capabilities to assist you in learning to play golf, the greatest of all games. Good Luck!

Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent. Be sure you're practicing the appropriate corrections for your swing.
